These past few days have been so cold and wet and currently being cooped up in the hospital for some testing has made me nostalgic for the beautiful day that I shot these photos last spring.
I live in a wonderful city. Holland is the perfect size to grow up in, not too big but definitely not too small. Now I may not have thought that when I was growing up here but looking back I have grown to appreciate this wonderful city’s little quirks. One of them being it’s Dutch heritage. I’ll admit when I was younger I just saw our annual Tulip Time Festival as a way to get out of school and a big nuisance when it came to parking and driving downtown that week.
But now I can say that I genuinely enjoy the festivities. I mean I participated in the “authentic” dutch dancing when I was in high school, but that was a mere ploy to get out of more school. Now I like to go downtown and enjoy the beautiful spring colors, induldge in a carmel apple or elephant ear and watch the parades from the window of the New Holland Brewery while sipping on one of their many delicious beers (which was one of my first dates with my wonderful boyfriend, I just wasn’t aware of it at the time).
So sorry for keeping you waiting by bragging about the lovely place I call home. Here are the photos, I hope you all enjoy and I hope they hold you over till next spring like I am hoping they do for me.
Halloweens around the corner, what’s your plans?
